What the map shows

Five hubs anchor Texas AI: Austin (research and startups), Dallas–Fort Worth (enterprise and defense), Houston (energy, medical, and aerospace AI), San Antonio (cyber and government), and Abilene (the Stargate data center campus). Around them sit the companies, universities, and institutions from our curated directory.

Every node links to the full guide for that entity or region. For the table view with presence details, use the company directory; for the narrative version of each hub, start with Texas AI cities.

Texas AI Map: FAQ

What is the Texas AI ecosystem map?

An interactive map of the artificial intelligence ecosystem in Texas: the five hub locations (Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Abilene), the major AI companies and employers around each, the universities feeding them talent, and the government institutions and infrastructure that anchor them. Tap any node for details and a link to the full guide.

How are the connections on the map decided?

Each company, university, and institution connects to the metro where it is headquartered or runs major operations, based on the same curated data as our Texas AI company directory. It is a simplified view: many organizations operate in several metros, and the directory page lists presence in detail.

Why is Abilene on the map?

Abilene is the site of the Stargate AI data center campus (SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle): 895 acres planned for 10 to 20 data centers as part of a $500 billion program, per the Texas Governor's office. The AI buildout has made West Texas part of the state's AI geography.
